Meet our Teachers

Mrs. Noakes
Mrs. Helen Noakes
Mrs. Noakes is thrilled to be returning to Governor’s Ranch and move from fourth grade to kindergarten this year. Ms. Noakes’ teaching journey started in 1986 after graduating from Indiana University (go Hoosiers). She spent her first year coordinating and teaching a G/T enrichment program near Indianapolis, IN. This was followed by five years of teaching first grade in Ft. Wayne, IN. Upon making the move to Colorado in 1991, she continued teaching with time spent in kindergarten, first grade and a first/second grade combination at Stein and Mitchell Elementary Schools. After her son Sam was born, she left education to stay home with him. During this time, she earned an associate's degree from the Art Institute of Colorado in photography. Working for a portrait studio part-time for about 12 years enabled her to have a flexible schedule, which in turn allowed her to raise her son as well as photograph. Since her return to the classroom, Ms. Noakes spent three years at Peiffer Elementary in intervention K-6, Kindergarten and third grade. Last year she was happy to start here at GRE. In her free time, she loves taking long walks with her dogs and spending time with friends and family. She has a passion for travel, especially in Europe as she was born and raised in Germany where most of her family still resides. As a lifelong learner, Mrs. Noakes’ goal as an educator is to help foster a love for learning in her students. She strives to provide a safe and friendly learning environment, which challenges all students to reach their highest potential. With a great community, staff and students, Mrs. Noakes is looking forward to this, her 20th year of teaching.

Ms. Meyer's family Ms. Sandra Meyer
Ms. Meyer is in love with everything Snoopy as you can see when you enter her classroom! This is her 15th year at Governor's Ranch Elementary and 20th year as a teacher, previously teaching in NY before moving to Colorado with her family. She discovered her passion for teaching while working as an accountant after graduating from Le Moyne College, working with new accountants in an educational capacity in addition to her accounting work. She made the decision to attend Russell Sage College and earned her Masters in Education and Reading. Ms. Meyer has three children, Sara (27), also a teacher in Jeffco, Becca (24), a graduate of CSU, and Matthew (22), a senior accounting major at DU. When not at school, Ms. Meyer loves spending time with her kids, having family dinners with them and extended family in the area, reading, and walking her three dogs, Bella (10), Zoey (5), and Auburn (2).
 Ryckman Family Mrs. Alex Ryckman
Mrs. Ryckman is so excited to start her seventh year teaching Kindergarten at GRE! She received her bachelor's degree as well as her teaching license in Early Childhood Education at Metropolitan State College of Denver (where she met her amazing husband Tim, an art teacher in Douglas County) and her master's degree from Lesley University in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Literacy. She began her career in Englewood where she taught first and second grade. When her first child was born she left teaching for ten years to stay home with him (Jack is now 16 and a junior at Columbine, and Ruthie is 13 and in eighth grade at D’Evelyn). Both of her kids went to school at GRE and she knew that if she ever went back to teaching, her dream job would be teaching at GRE because of the amazing staff, students and community! She and her family have lived in Governor's Ranch for 16 years. In their free time they love to hang out at the pool, hike in the mountains or travel anywhere with a beautiful beach.
