Office Staff

Meet the Front Office Staff

Lesa Higgins
Lesa Higgins, Principal's Secretary
Lesa started her career at the Arabian Horse Registry in Westminster, CO. First she was a customer service representative and then a customer service supervisor. It sounds really cool, but remember it was customer service so you can imagine there were some times that weren't that fun. The fun started when she got to stay home and raise her two daughters for several years. When they started school, she decided that if she was going to go back to work, she'd try to get a schedule that fit with school. So she was a paraprofessional in Denver Public Schools for several years before deciding to go back to school and become a librarian. She worked in Jeffco for 9 years as a librarian at various schools. After some family crises in 2017 she decided to pursue a path that would allow more free time so she moved into Governor's Ranch's office where she enjoys working with the office team and the families of GRE.

Donna Westwood
Donna Westwood, Health Aide
Mrs. Westwood is excited for her tenth year at Governor's Ranch as the Health Aide. Before becoming a Health Aide, Mrs. Westwood went to Jeffco Schools (Green Gables, Carmody, and Bear Creek High) and then college (University of Northern Colorado) where she majored in History and minored in Education and Sociology. She taught for seven years and then stayed home to raise three children. The Westwoods also were a foster family during that time and took care of 30 foster babies in a span of almost eight years. Mrs. Westwood would love to be a foster mom again but she hasn't talked Mr. Westwood into that idea, yet. The Westwood Family consists of daughters; Kelyn (married to James), and Maggie, son; David, cat; Lexie, and bunny; Leia. Mrs. Westwood also enjoys scrapbooking, cross-stitching, and reading.
Samantha MacKenzie
Samantha MacKenzie, RN, BSN
Samantha MacKenzie is excited to return for her third year with Governor’s Ranch Elementary. She is originally from New Mexico but moved to Colorado as a child and never left. Prior to working in Jefferson County, she worked as a Nurse for an Allergy and Asthma Clinic and volunteered at a free clinic in Fort Collins. Prior to nursing, she had experience working in a genetics lab and in a pharmacy. She lives in Littleton with her husband, one-year-old daughter and Bernese mountain dog mix. They all enjoy hiking, camping and dog parks that this part of the state has to offer. Samantha looks forward to continuing to work and develop relationships with the staff, students and community of Governors Ranch Elementary!
