Offical Student Count

Official Student Count

Official student membership one-day count (October 2) 11-day window is September 25 - October 9.
What YOU and YOUR FAMILIES Need to know

THE DAY: Monday, October 2 is the official student membership count day for Colorado public school districts.

IT’S ABOUT THE FUNDING: Allocation of financial resources are strongly tied to accurate identification of all students who are eligible to be included in the official membership (must be present AND registered).

EACH STUDENT COUNTS: All district students who are in membership (attendance and enrollment) on October 2 are eligible to be counted.

THE WINDOW: The eleven-day count window is September 25 - October 9. This window works like a funnel: if a student is absent on October 2, the surrounding days will be used as a basis for counting the student.

Each year, district records are audited by the CDE to ensure the information we report is substantiated. If inconsistencies are found between the student information system and supporting documentation, our district may be required to return all or a portion of the funds received for that student. In addition, if a student who is eligible for funding is not entered into the student information system and identified on the One Day Count Report, our district may lose funding for that student.

This October Count number is also the basis for student-based budget allocations.
